The teaching faculty is supported by six non-teaching staff i.e six lab technicians.
Laboratories:
i) Electromechanics Laboratory :
Electrical Machines, Transformers and other related equipment has been installed. All the equipment is purchased from reputed manufacturers (such as Kirloskar Electric Company, Automatic Electric Company etc).
ii) Electrical Measurements Laboratory :
This laboratory contains Bridges, Potentiometers and other measuring equipment.
iii) Power Electronics Laboratory :
This laboratory with SCR converters choppers and other power electronic devices is established.
iv) Networks Laboratory :
Equipment involving function generators, Regulated power supplies, Oscilloscopes, Decade LCR boxes, Bread-Boards and other components are available in this lab.
v) Control Systems Laboratory :
Equipment like Synchros, Servomotors, Linear System Simulators, Position Controllers, PID Controller, Lag - Lead Compensators etc have been procured. In addition to this equipment, the lab has four Computer Systems to assist experiments using MATLAB.

Special Features:
- Various parts of AC and DC machines are displayed as models.
- Various materials and components used in Electrical Engineering practice are also displayed on boards, which include types of insulation, electrical laminations, contactors etc.
- Students are encouraged to use MATLAB and Pspice Software to solve problems in Electrical Engineering for various circuits.
Faculty Training:
Two of the faculty members S. Venkateshwarlu and V. Pavan Kumar were sponsored for a two day workshop on " Application of Power Electronics and Electric Circuits using PSPICE" conducted by Osmania University on 23rd and 24th September 1999.
Mr. S. Venkateswarlu and Mr. K. Pasupathi were sponsored for a two day workshop on " Power Electronics Applications in Industy" conducted by Osmania University on 9th and 10th December 1999.
Industrial Training for Staff: Most of our staff were sent for training to CPRI, Hyderabad. The Staff have visited various industries during industrial visits of our students and also during summer training of the students.
Under Continuing Education program, a two day Refresher course on "Power Electronics" by retired faculty member of IIT Madras Prof. Vedam Subhramanyam was conducted on 18th and 19th March 2000.
One of our Non-Teaching Staff was sent for practical training in the summer to Laxmi Engineering Company which is manufacturing instrumentation panels to various power plants and other process industries.
Industrial Visits and Summer Training for Students:
The students are taken to various industries and power plants to gain practical knowledge.
The students are sent for Practical training in summer vacation to various industries.
All the students who undergo practical training are asked to submit training reports. Prize is given for the best report.
Co-Curricular Activities:
- Technical Association of Electrical and Electronics Engineering has been inaugurated by Mr. N.C. Mohan Rao, Senior Joint Director, CPRI, Medipally, Hyderabad. The Association motivates the students of EEE department organise co-curricular activities such as technical talks, technical quiz programs, technical paper writing competitions, model making, mini projects etc.
- The department has taken the lead in forming an IEEE student chapter at Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology. The chapter has a membership of about 100 students from various branches.
Organisation of Refresher courses by the Department:
The Department has organized the following refresher courses for the benefit of the teachers of various Engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh and in neighbouring states. The courses were very well attended and were well received. The Department has conducted the following courses
- Power Electronics
- Computer methods in power systems
- Power system operation and control
Future Plans:
Simulation laboratory is being setup. Research activities leading to Ph.D for the staff are also encouraged. Collaboration with BHEL (R & D) is envisaged in this regard.
