Around 70 NSS volunteers under the guidance of NSS programme officer, Challa Srinivas have been to Secunderabad Railway station and have spread awareness of Swine flu in and around Secunderabad Railway station. In the process of awareness around 5500 swine flu awareness pamphlets to the general public and around 200 homeopathy medicines to the poor were distributed. The activity started at 10.15 am and ended at 6.00pm on 21st August 2009.

 BLOOD DONATION CAMP

The National Service Scheme (NSS) in association with the Red Cross society organised a blood donation camp on 19th September 2009. The camp saw active participation of many students, not only in donating the blood but also enthusiastically volunteering for the event. JNTUH NSS Coordinator Dr.B.Anjaneya Prasad was invited as chief guest. He delivered an inspiring speech and motivated the students. He was pleased that a number of students had come forward to donate the blood.

We organised this camp mainly because there was scarcity of blood in many hospitals. We also gather the donors contact number and the hospitals can directly get in touch with the individuals when a specific blood group is required.

Each donor at the camp donated a maximum of one unit of blood as advised by the physicians. Around three female and three male nurses were stationed at the camp for a smoother functioning of the medical procedures. All staff members and students actively participated in the blood donation camp.

Around 400 people had turned up to donate blood. A total of 250 units of blood were collected which was in itself a great record. The enthusiasm showed students towards blood donation was really appreciable.
