Eminent Professors of Mechanical Engineering Department

Dr.T.Ch.Siva Reddy

Professor & HOD, ME Department.

Dr.T.Ch.Siva Reddy obtained Ph.D. degree in Mechanical engineering from OU, Hyderabad in 2007 and  M.Tech (Thermal Engineering) from University College of Engineering, JNTUH, Hyderabad in 1993. He was awarded GATE scholarship by MHRD during his post graduation study. He has more than 23 years of experience in teaching, research and consulting in the area of thermal engineering. He has dealt with many subjects during his teaching like Thermodynamics, Thermal Engineering, Fluid mechanics, R & AC and Heat transfer.

His research papers was awarded as the best paper in Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Power conference 2003 at IIT Roorkee. He was instrumental in securing MODROBS grants of AICTE for Thermal Engineering and Production technology lab for the department. He has also successfully completed two research projects sanctioned by AICTE in the area of Experimental and CFD studies of centrifugal compressors. Presently he is executing consultancy project of DRDL, Hyderabad in the area of fluidized combustion bed. Dr. Siva Reddy in his credit published many papers in the International/ National Journals and Conferences. His papers have appeared in reputed journals such as IMechE, Springer and conferences such as FMFP. He is a Ph.D supervisor for several research scholars in the area of Alternate fuels.

 

Dr. M. Kumaraiah

Professor, ME Department.

Dr. M. Kumaraiah completed his M.Tech (Machine Tools) from REC Warangal and worked for 12 years in various Government Polytechnics and joined as Assistant Professor in Osmania University. He was chairman Board of Studies & Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Osmania University. He was the Director Information Dissemination centre Osmania University. Dean college development council OU. He served as member Executive council JNTU, Member Janma Bhoomi Program of Government of A.P. VC’s nominee for EAMCET Govt. A.P. Member Selection committee of Defence Research & Development organization.

He worked as the Principal of various engineering colleges. Dr. Kumaraiah gor Best Research paper award at all India Machine Tool Design conference at IIT Kharagpur. He also got 1st rank in M.Tech at REC Warangal. He guided 16 scholars for the award of Ph.D in different areas of mechanical engineering and published 95 research papers in various International & national Journal and conferences. His research interest includes production engineering, solar energy, machine design etc.

Presently he is working as a professor in ME department, Dean Academics & Controler of Examinations in Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology.

 

Dr. MVSSSM Prasad

Professor, ME Department.

MVSSSM Prasad (Dr.Prasad Mukkavilli) joined SNIST in September 2008 after superannuating from BHEL Corporate R&D, Hyderabad as Additional General manager. He did his Bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D degrees in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, madras. He has rich Industrial Experience of 36 years out of which, for about 8 years he worked in HAL, Bangalore and the balance period was in BHEL Corporate R&D. His specialization is in Thermal Turbomachines, comprising of Gas and Steam Turbines, Fans and Compressors. During his tenure in BHEL, he guided a good number of students for their B.Tech and M.Tech Projects.

In SNIST, he is teaching Undergraduate students in different subjects like Applied Thermodynamics, Power Plant Engineering, Renewable Energy Sources, Automobile Engineering and Instrumentation and Controls. He is a Project member in two AICTE approved RPS Projects under which a fan test facility was established and an Energy-efficient Centrifugal  Fan was developed. He guided a number of B.Tech students during their project work. He also participated in the preparation of two books on Bio-aerodynamics of Avian Flight and Bio-aerodynamics of  Insect Flight along with Prof N.Chari, Emeritus Professor, Bio-aerodynamics, SNIST.

 

Dr. T.S.R Murthy

Professor, ME Department.

Dr. T S R Murthy obtained his BE (Mech) from South Gujarat University with first rank in 1971 and M Tech (Mech) from IIT Madras(1973) with second rank and Ph.D from IIT Madras(1983). He also did MBA(IGNOU) in 2002. He worked in CMTI Bangalore an R & D institute for years in different positions (APO to Division Head(R & D)). Then he worked in RJIT Bangaloreas HOD (2008-2009) and in KITPS Moradabadas Principal(2009-2014), before Joining SNIST.

He had a patent No. 248177. He published around 80 papers (19 in International journals, 48 in international/National Conferences Proceedings, 10 in National seminars and 2 invited lectures). He was a UNIDO fellow during 1986-1987 and worked at CAD/CAM Inc., Dayton. Ohio, USA. He also visited UK and Singapore to present research papers and also visited different R & D organizations, all this gave him good exposure about academics. He was a referee to many international Journals, chaired sessions in AIMTDR and COPEN. He received Gold medal from South Gujarat University(1971), Received IAEC Golden Jubilee award for research in Metrology (1986).

 

Dr. G. S. Reddy

Professor, ME Department.

G. S. Reddy obtained B. Tech., degree from Regional Engineering College, Warangal;M. Tech., from IIT, Kanpur and Ph. D. from IIT, BHU, Varanasi. He did post-doctoral research work at the Virginia Tech., Blacksburg USA and University of Cincinnati USA.

Dr. G. S. Reddy prior to joining the Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology, he worked as a Scientist at the Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory Hyderabad for 20 years on areas of metal working, squeeze casting, investment castings of gas turbine engine parts, composite materials and numerical simulation of solidification processes. He moved to US to work in Ion-bond Cleveland and MHI Inc., Cincinnati  for 14 years. During this period he has obtained 11 US patents related to processes and nanomaterials. He worked as Principal Investigator on four sponsored research projects funded by the US National Science Foundation and US Department of Energy. He has returned to India in 2012 and worked for 3 years as Professor at the National Institute of Technology, Warangal. During this period he taught core courses at B. Tech. and M. Tech. level, established computer simulation facility and organized two Workshops. He has over 40 publications and 11 US patents to his credit.

He has joined SNIST in June 2015 and teaches Metallurgy and Materials Science, Manufacturing Processes, Nanocomposites and Characterization of materials. He is pursuing computer simulation of casting processes.

 

Dr. D.Kondayya

Professor, ME Department.

Dr.D.Kondayya is a faculty of Mechanical Engineering with over 15 years of teaching experience. He did his Ph.D. in the area of Advanced Machining from Mechanical Engineering department of JNTUK, Kakinada in 2012, M.E.in Production Engineering from Faculty of Engineering & Technology, MSU Baroda in 1996. He received GATE scholarship from MHRD during his post graduation study. Prior to teaching he served as Junior Engineer in Steel Melt shop division of ESSAR Steels Ltd, Surat for 3 years.  

Dr.Kondayya is a member of Institution of Engineers, India. He has published research papers in several International Journals and Conferences. His research work has appeared in International journals like, International journal of advanced manufacturing technology, International journal of computer integrated manufacturing etc and international conferences like AIMTDR. His teaching areas are Manufacturing processes, Conventional and Advanced Machine tools, Operations Research, CAD/CAM. His research interests are Evolutionary algorithms, Advanced Machining Methods and Optimization.

 

Dr. A. Purushotham

Professor, ME Department.

Prof.Allam Purushotham,is currently Professor at Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology ,Ghatkesar, Hyderabad.After Post graduation in Design and Production Engineering from N.I.T.Warangal , He  served as Assistant  and Associate professor in K.I.T.S: Ramtek and Vasavi College of Engineering: Hyderabad for a period of  17 years. After obtaining Ph.D. from Osmania University:Hyderabad , he comlpleted one major Sponsered R&D Projects on Photoelasticity stress Analysis on Composites besides  several internal funded projects in the specialisation:Robotics,Automobile and stress Analysis. Dr A.Purushotham has been teaching Machine Design and its related subjects such as FEM, Vibrations,Theory of machines etc. to the students of U.G. and P.G. for several years now. He has also written over  50 research papers  in his field of Ph.D.area of specialisation:Robotics and M.Tech. area of specialisation FMS .Prof Purushotham being a member of BOS of few Autonomous institution, is actively involved in curriculum development, NBA etc. To enable practical understanding of the subjects , he developed Application Oreinted Teaching Material in Machine Design , FEM and FEM Basics with ANSYS . He is actively associated with  students co curricula activitites such as SAE,ISTE,Roboveda etc. and delivered Expert lectures in various SDPs  and FDPs.

 

Dr.P Jaypal Reddy

Professor, ME Department.

Dr. P Jaipal Reddy obtained his bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering and Ph.D from NIT Warangal.Before joining SNIST as a professor in ME Department, he worked in NIT warangal and CBIT at Associate Professor and Professor levels.

Dr.Jaipal Reddy has published good research papers in American Society of Mechanical Engineering and at various National and International journal and conferences. He is a professional member of ISTE, ISME, FIE, MRSI and ASME.

 

Dr. S Satyanarayana

Professor, ME Department.

Dr. S.Satyanarayana was born on 6th August 1951. Graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, obtained Masters Degree from Osmania University in Production Engineering and Ph D from JNTU. Presently working as Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering since 24th March 2011 in Srinidhi Institute of Science and Technology (SNIST), Hyderabad. Some of the other achievements of Dr. S. Satyanarayana are listed below

  • Principal Director & Chief Executive Officer, Central Institute of Tool Design (CITD), Hyderabad.
  • Served in different capacities in Electronics Corporation of India Ltd (ECIL) , Sahaney Paris Rohne Ltd ( SPR), ITW Signode( India) Ltd, Hyderabad Allwyn Ltd, Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) etc.,
  • Member on the board of mini-tool rooms set up by Govt of India
  • Member, Critical Design Review (CDR) Committee, ADA
  • Expert Member on the Assessment Board of DRDO
  • Member in Committees of BIS like Machine Tool Elements & Holding Devices (PG02), Machine Tools Sectional Committee (PG03), Metal Forming Machines (PG04) and  Cutting Tools (PG32)

  • Design and manufacture of Cams  for machining of watch cases on semi-automatic turning machines at Hyderabad Allwyn Ltd & Setting up conveyor lines for assembly of auto-electricals at  SPR Ltd.
  • Introduced Master of Engineering (M.E.,) level courses in Tool Design and CAD/CAM in CITD by signing an MOU with OU under Industry- Institute joint programmes.
  • Started Diploma in Tool & Die Making (DTDM)  at CITD and obtained recognition from Sate Government as equivalent to Polytechnic Diplomas.
  • Implemented a modernization programme  in 2002 at CITD  to bring in the latest CAD/CAM Software, CNC Machines, Metrology and Calibration facilities
  • Established a sub-center of CITD at Vijayawada
  • He was awarded as The Engineer of the Year - 2004
  • Attended Management training programmes at various institutes in India& abroad like ASCI, IIPA, IPE, XLRI, NITIE, ETDC & AOTS, Japan on Development of Die Mold Industry for  business collaboration.
